This website has been created to share information about Ardlair and Highland Dance generally, while also providing Ardlair members with a centralised method of receiving news, class, competition and exam information, technical resources, photo sharing and forum discussions!
The Ardlair School of Dancing is led by Principal Teacher Lisa Turner who is an internationally qualified teacher with the United Kingdom Alliance (UKA) and the National Dancing Association of Australia (NDAA). She is also an SOBHD Adjudicator, qualifying in December 2008. Lisa is South Australia’s all-time most successful dancer; winning 50 State and National Championships during her competitive dancing career. She has danced for Queen Elizabeth II by invitation at the Braemar Games, the Sultan of Oman at the Oman National Day celebrations, and has also performed at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland.
Ardlair began in Millicent, South Australia, in March 2003. Since its inaugural year, the school has grown in size and reputation amongst the Australian Highland Dancing fraternity and the general community of the South East of South Australia and Western Victoria. Numerous classes are now held in both Millicent and Mt Gambier for all levels from New Starters through to Championship standard.
Competition
Competitive Ardlair dancers utilise advanced technical support and complementary cross training with aim of achieving success at various competitions in Australia, significantly at the Australian ‘Champion of Champions’ and the Grand Australasian competitions in their age and ability groups. Some Ardlair dancers aim to one day join the world’s best at the World Championships in Scotland. Ardlair dancers generally compete extensively throughout South Australia and Victoria, as well as hosting fellow competitors at the ‘Ardlair Highland Dancing Competition’ held in May each year.
